Resolves the issue of certain RV Surge Protector/Power Monitors reporting a fault for an unbonded neutral ("OPEN GROUND" or "E2" fault) when your RV is plugged into a portable generator.
Many RV owners now use surge protectors when they plug their RVs into campground utility power hook-ups. These surge protectors can be portable types or they can be built-in to your RV's power system. When powering the trailer from a portable generator, the more sophisticated surge protector devices will report an "OPEN GROUND" or "OPEN NEUTRAL" fault. In actuality, this fault is simply due to the fact that all portable generators keep separated the neutral power connection and the earth ground connection. This is known as an unbonded neutral. To resolve this problem, all you need is a standard NEMA 5-15P plug with a single wire connection inside. Micro-Air now offers these, already wired up and ready to go.
Progressive Industries® manufactures some of the most popular surge protector/power monitors in the RV market. Please refer to their article and video at this link that further explains this issue of the unbonded neutral.
